I have just started a blog and FB group called ” I’M MADD TOO”. Yes DUI laws for those who are in the minority, who suffer from a DISEASE of Alcoholism, these crazy laws of PUNISHMENT MUST CHANGE. And now through MADD and our legislative system, things are only getting worse.
Those who are in the majority, those of us who do not have this DISEASE, these laws are a effective. But our legislative body is missing the boat, and branding those who suffer from a real DISEASE with a scarlet letter, A Felony, they throw them in jail and the revolving door swings open and close, open and close, until their lives are completely shattered, they loose everything, they are Felons, and they become a statistic. JAIL DOES NOT REHABILITATE those who suffer from the disease of Alcoholism. Jail is just the ugly consequence of their addiction and disease. Drinking and driving and deaths related to this has risen not declined with these law since MADD came in to existence. WAKE UP !!!! IT’S NOT WORKING !!!! I too am a mother who is MAD. I am mad that lives that could be restored to wholeness and purpose are not helped but punished. This alone could save many, many lives. I will continue to SPEAK OUT!! ONE VOICE, ONE HEART, TWO HANDS, COMPASSION, UNDERSTANDING AND CHANGE MUST HAPPEN. IT HAS NOW BECOME A DRIVING FORCE IN MY LIFE.
