My Proposal To Stop Drinking and Driving

September 16, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Recently the The National Center for Statistics & Analysis recently published a report on Alcohol-Related Fatalities and Alcohol Involvement Among Drivers and Motorcyle Operators. Statistics are good and dandy in certain situations, however, I believe that if that’s all we’re going to focus on then we’re not going to get anywhere in terms of solving the problem. Besides, who is paying attention to these statistics and are they even accurate? What do you think?

I don’t even have to follow these statistics to know that our system isn’t working to stop people from drinking and driving. We’ve got to do something new….something different. I propose that we start helping those people who are the greatest risks. Let’s really make an effort to help these people with their drinking problem. How about spending a little more money to hire people who really care and want to make a difference in these people’s lives.

We know that jail time and small fines aren’t preventing people from drunk driving. That’s not enough for these people. These people need psychological and emotional help. Their drinking problem and lack of self-control are the cause of their habits. They need someone to say to them, “Hey, you know what? I feel your pain and I really want to help you if you let me.”

If you’ve been charged with a DUI in San Diego, get help from a lawyer who cares about his clients….
